Rosalita Spreads Kindness – A Children’s Book Inspired by Circus Life

Hello, kind world! 🌍💛

I’m thrilled to share a project very close to my heart: my upcoming children’s book titled Rosalita Spreads Kindness. This story has been in the making for years, rooted in family memories, inspired by circus life, and guided by a belief that kindness is the most powerful gift we can pass on to children.

The book is currently in its final draft stage and will be ready in about two weeks. I’ve been fortunate to partner with the wonderfully talented artist Maria Mato Naji from Bismarck, ND, who is bringing Rosalita’s world to life through her vivid, heartwarming illustrations. Together, we’re aiming to publish this book by May 2025.

The Inspiration Behind Rosalita

The story of Rosalita Spreads Kindness is inspired by my father’s childhood growing up on The Schmidt Traveling Circus. Circus life was colorful, challenging, and full of lessons about resilience, community, and kindness. From the performers to the workers behind the scenes, everyone contributed to creating magic—and in those moments, small acts of kindness made all the difference.

My grandmother often said: “Don’t let any grass grow under your feet.” These words became a guiding principle in my life. They reminded me to move forward, to keep spreading kindness, and to embrace life’s adventures without delay. Rosalita, the book’s protagonist, embodies this philosophy—always finding ways to lift others up, even in the most unexpected circumstances.

What Rosalita Spreads Kindness Is About

At its heart, this book is about a young girl named Rosalita who discovers the power of kindness in everyday actions. Whether it’s helping a fellow circus performer overcome stage fright, comforting an animal, or simply sharing a smile, Rosalita shows children how even small gestures can create a ripple effect of joy and compassion.

The story blends circus magic with real-life values, making it both entertaining and meaningful. Children will delight in the colorful illustrations, while parents and educators will appreciate the timeless lessons on empathy, courage, and generosity.

The Role of Illustration

Children’s books live and breathe through their illustrations. That’s why I’m so grateful to be working with Maria Mato Naji. Based in Bismarck, ND, Maria has a gift for capturing warmth and emotion through her art. Each page she creates feels like a window into Rosalita’s world—a place filled with vibrant circus tents, joyful performers, and moments of heartfelt connection.

Her artistry doesn’t just complement the story; it elevates it. Through her illustrations, children will not only read about kindness but see it come to life.

Why Kindness Matters in Children’s Literature

In today’s fast-paced and often challenging world, kindness can feel like a rare treasure. But it doesn’t have to be. Teaching children about kindness at an early age shapes the way they view others and themselves. Stories like Rosalita Spreads Kindness remind children that they have the power to make a difference in their communities, schools, and families.

Books that center on values like compassion, resilience, and understanding create lasting impressions. They help children develop emotional intelligence and encourage them to treat others with respect and love. Through Rosalita’s journey, I hope to inspire the next generation to see kindness not as an option, but as a way of life.

Publication Timeline

The final draft of Rosalita Spreads Kindness will be complete in the next two weeks. After the finishing touches, our goal is to release the book by May 2025.

We’re working hard to ensure everything—from storytelling to illustration to publication—is polished and ready to share with readers worldwide.

Conclusion

Rosalita Spreads Kindness is more than just a children’s story—it’s a celebration of family, circus magic, and the timeless value of kindness. Inspired by my father’s life and guided by my grandmother’s wisdom, this book has been a labor of love, and I cannot wait for you to meet Rosalita and join her adventures.
